Druck. - Blake S. 261 - Wellcome III, 473 - Waller 5670 - Das Werk Le Drans, Chefchirurg am Hôpital de la Charité, war ein Meilenstein in der Professionalisierung der Chirurgie im 18. Jahrhundert. Le Dran setzte sich intensiv mit dem von Frère Jacques Beaulieu eingeführten und von Johannes Rau weiterentwickelten lateralen Damm-Schnitt auseinander. Er präzisierte die anatomische Schnittführung am Patienten. Durch seine genauen Anleitungen half er Chirurgen, den Blasenhals und den Schließmuskel seltener zu verletzen, was die damals extrem hohe Sterblichkeitsrate sowie die Gefahr lebenslanger Inkontinenz drastisch senkte. - Etwas stockfleckig u. gebräunt, mehr. Natural Sciences – Medicine. - Urology. - The work by Le Drans, chief surgeon at the Hôpital de la Charité, was a milestone in the professionalization of surgery in the 18th century. Thanks to his precise instructions, he helped surgeons reduce the incidence of injury to the bladder neck and sphincter, which drastically lowered the mortality rate-which was extremely high at the time-as well as the risk of lifelong incontinence. - Some stains and discoloration, several ownership notations on the title pages.
