Umfassende Zeichenlehre des Harnes im gesunden, besonders aber im kranken Zustande, nebst einer ausführlichen Abhandlung über die Bright'sche Krankheit in den verschiedenen Lebensaltern. Deutsch bearb. von Siegmund Frankenberg und S. Landmann. Mit einer Vorrede von Franz Rinecker. Leipzig, Kollmann, 1843. VI, 529 S. Ppbd. d. Zt. mit Rückenschild und Rückenvergoldung (etwas beschabt).

Naturwissenschaften – Zweite deutsche Bearbeitung von Becquerel's "Séméiotique des urines". - Pagel 117 - Das Werk immt eine Schlüsselrolle in der Geschichte der Nephrologie und Urologie ein, da es zu den ersten Werken gehört, die eine umfassende, wissenschaftliche klinische Harnanalyse mit der Erforschung spezifischer Nierenkrankheiten verknüpften. Diese Übertragung ist von besonderer Bedeutung, entstand sie doch, nach Voswinckel, in Würzburg, einem der Zentren der naturwissenschaftlichen Medizin. "Virchow und Kölliker begründeten hier die Zellularpathologie, Rinecker veranlaßte hier die deutsche Übersetzung der bahnbrechenden 'Umfassenden Zeichenlehre des Urins' des Franzosen Alfred Becquerel" (Voswinckel, Der schwarze Urin, S. 113). Voswinckel weiter in der Fußnote 281: Im Kapitel 'Harnfarbe' gab er folgende programmatische Anweisung: 'Die Färbung genügt noch nicht zu dem Schlusse auf die Gegenwart des Blutes, man muss erst Reagentien, nämlich Salpetersäure und Wärme, anwenden, um das Eyweiss zu ermitteln und mit Hülfe des Mikroskops die Blutkügelchen unterscheiden'. Hier auch erster Hinweis auf den schwarzen Urin: 'Der Blutfarbstoff verändert sich in dem Harne sehr rasch und wird dunkel oder fast schwarz. 'Wir haben öfters Gelegenheit gehabt, solchen Harn zu beobachten, und sind überzeugt, dass der schwarze Harn, den die Alten kannten, grösstenteils nichts anderes war' (S. 113). - Etwas gebräunt, Exlibris auf Innendeckel.
