Jahrhunderts zählt. Es entstand aus Kleins Aufenthalt in Rom 1956, wo er ursprünglich als Assistent von Federico Fellini für den Film Le notti di Cabiria ("Nights of Cabiria") engagiert war. Rome gilt als Meilenstein der Streetfotografie und als eines der wichtigsten Fotobücher überhaupt. Es dokumentiert nicht nur die Stadt, sondern auch eine spezifische historische Phase - das Rom der späten 1950er, zwischen Tradition und beginnendem "wirtschaftlichem Wunder". - Der franz. Journalist, Schriftsteller und Historiker Jean Prasteau (1921-1997) wurde 1993 mit dem Prix Cazes für sein Buch "Les grandes heures du Faubourg St-Germain" ausgezeichnet. Schutzumschlag am Kapital mit unauffällig restaurierter Fehlstelle (2-7 mm.), sehr schönes Exemplar.

Klein: "To Jean Prasteau, welcome to my Rome-which may also be yours. With warm regards, William Klein." - "Rome" is a groundbreaking photo book by the American photographer William Klein (1926-2022), first published in 1959 and considered one of the most influential photography publications of the 20th century. It was created during Klein's stay in Rome in 1956, where he was originally hired as an assistant to Federico Fellini for the film Le notti di Cabiria ("Nights of Cabiria"). Rom is considered a milestone in street photography and one of the most important photo books of all time. It documents not only the city but also a specific historical period-Rome in the late 1950s, caught between tradition and the dawn of the "economic miracle." - The French journalist, writer, and historian Jean Prasteau (1921-1997) was awarded the Prix Cazes in 1993 for his book Les grandes heures du Faubourg St-Germain. - Dust jacket on the capital with a discreetly restored tear (2-7 mm), a very fine copy.
