Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Expressiv-figürliches Gemälde von Thomas Hartmann, dass sich durch eine klare Form- und Farbsprache auszeichnet und sich damit bewusst von der gestischen Malerei der Neuen Wilden abhebt. Mit dem Ende der Avantgarden in den 1970er Jahren setzt zu Beginn der 80er Jahre die Wiederentdeckung der figurativen Malerei ein. Wiederkehrendes Kernmotiv im Schaffen Hartmanns ist das Verhältnis des Einzelnen zur Gemeinschaft und die damit einhergehenden Spannungen, das er in Kompositionen voll Experimentierlust und Stilbrüchen formuliert.

Overall, in very good condition. - An expressive, figurative painting by Thomas Hartmann, characterised by a clear formal and chromatic language, which thus deliberately sets itself apart from the gestural painting of the Neue Wilde. With the end of the avant-garde movements in the 1970s, the rediscovery of figurative painting began in the early 1980s. A recurring central theme in Hartmann's work is the relationship between the individual and the community, and the tensions that accompany it, which he expresses in compositions brimming with a spirit of experimentation and stylistic breaks.
