Das Blatt spiegelt eine späte Auseinandersetzung mit Zeit und Entropie: Die früher deutlich zitierten Bildvorlagen lösen sich hier in diffuse, erodierte Farbzonen auf. Zugleich bleiben die intensive Palette und die innere Dynamik der Komposition dem optischen Spannungsmoment treu, das seine Praxis seit den 1960er Jahren prägt. Innerhalb seines Spätwerks erscheint diese Lithografie somit als konzentrierte, introspektive Schwester der ikonischen Appropriationen, die der Frage nachgeht, wie Bilder fortbestehen, wenn ihre Quellen im Ungefähren verschwinden.

Published by Bernard Chaveau, Paris. - This work by Alain Jacquet features a dense field of overlapping areas of colour in saturated black, red, yellow and deep green, creating a molten, almost geological surface. The composition eschews clear figuration, yet reveals organic or landscape-like echoes that are vaguely reminiscent of Jacquet's earlier interest in found images and perception. The layered application of colour and the velvety black tones emphasise materiality and the printing process, transforming the picture surface itself into a field of experimentation rather than a mere medium of reproduction. In the context of his late work, this turn towards abstraction can be read as a condensation of his Pop Art-inspired strategies into a pure interplay of colour and texture, in which reference increasingly gives way to sensation. The print reflects a late engagement with time and entropy: the visual sources, once clearly cited, dissolve here into diffuse, eroded zones of colour. At the same time, the intense palette and the inner dynamics of the composition remain true to the visual tension that has characterised his practice since the 1960s. Within his late work, this lithograph thus appears as a concentrated, introspective counterpart to the iconic appropriations, exploring the question of how images endure when their sources fade into obscurity.
