Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Das vorliegende Blatt vereint zwei der zentralen Bildformeln, die Gauls Werk seit seinen Anfängen durchziehen: die Geste des Schreibens und das Fragment als Träger von Bedeutung. Auf einem aufgeklebten, unregelmäßig gerissenen Papierstück setzt Gaul eine kalligraphische Bewegung in Schwarz und Weiß, die zwischen Schrift und Geste changiert und an seine frühen Poèmes Visibles der späten 1950er Jahre erinnert. Eine leuchtend blaue Linie im aufgeklebten Fragment und im darunter weitergeführten Bogen auf dem Hauptblatt verbindet Collage und Untergrund zu einer einzigen, kontinuierlichen Bewegung und verleiht dem Blatt eine kosmische Dynamik.

Overall, in very good condition. - This sheet brings together two of the central visual motifs that have run through Gaul's work since its inception: the gesture of writing and the fragment as a vehicle of meaning. On a glued-on, irregularly torn piece of paper, Gaul creates a calligraphic movement in black and white that oscillates between writing and gesture, recalling his early *Poèmes Visibles* of the late 1950s. A bright blue line running through the pasted-on fragment and continuing down onto the sheet beneath it on the main page links the collage and the background into a single, continuous movement, lending the work a cosmic dynamism.
