Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Der in Sao Paulo geborene und seit 1992 in Berlin ansässige Künstler Alex Flemming entwickelte eine konzeptuell fundierte Bildpraxis, die Fragen nach Identität, Sehnsucht und kulturellem Gedächtnis ins Zentrum stellt. Das vorliegende Werk verbindet zwei Schichten: devotionale Bildtradition kollidiert mit dem Text einer Kontaktanzeige. So überlagert Flemming das zeitlose Begehren der altmeisterlichen Bildtradition mit dem banalen Liebesgesuch der Moderne und reflektiert so die Beständigkeit des Liebeswunsches über Epochen hinweg.

This work combines two layers: the devotional pictorial tradition clashes with the text of a personal ad. In this way, Flemming superimposes the timeless desire of the Old Master pictorial tradition upon the banal quest for love characteristic of the modern era, thereby reflecting the enduring nature of the desire for love across the ages.
