Hermann Nitsch zählt zu den zentralen Protagonisten des Wiener Aktionismus und realisierte mit seinem Orgien-Mysterien-Theater performative Arbeiten, die Körper, Material und rituelle Handlung in eine intensive, oft grenzüberschreitende Bildpraxis überführen. Beide Positionen stehen exemplarisch für eine radikale Erweiterung des Kunstbegriffs im österreichischen Nachkriegskontext.

Hermann Nitsch is one of the central figures of Viennese Actionism and, with his Orgy-Mystery Theater, created performative works that transform bodies, materials, and ritual actions into an intense, often boundary-pushing visual practice. Both positions exemplify a radical expansion of the concept of art in the Austrian postwar context.
