(337 B5). - Diese Edition "Romy Schneider, Quiberon 1981" von Robert Lebeck basiert auf einer ikonischen Aufnahme, die im März 1981 während Romy Schneiders Kuraufenthalt im bretonischen Quiberon für den "Stern" entstand. Das Bild zeigt Romy Schneider in einem Moment großer Konzentration und Verletzlichkeit. Lebeck verzichtet auf Glamourposen und richtet seinen Blick auf die existenzielle Spannung zwischen öffentlicher Ikone und privater, vom Leben gezeichneter Frau, die sich im Interview mit Michael Jürgs als "unglückliche Frau von 42 Jahren" bezeichnete. Innerhalb seines Werks gehört die Quiberon-Serie zu den intimsten Porträtfolgen, möglich geworden durch das über Jahre gewachsene Vertrauensverhältnis, in dem Schneider den Fotografen "Lebo" nannte und ihm eine große Nähe gestattete. Zugleich knüpft die Arbeit an Lebecks Fotoreportagen an, in denen er - ob in Afrika, im Nachkriegsdeutschland oder bei Prominenten - weniger Inszenierung als den "entscheidenden Moment" und die Wahrheit einer Situation suchte. Darin zeigt sich Lebecks späte Meisterschaft: eine Photographie, die zwischen Reportage, Psychogramm und ikonischem Stern-Porträt vermittelt und die fragile Balance von Nähe und Respekt gegenüber dem Motiv wahrt.

This is where Lebeck's late-career mastery is evident: a form of photography that bridges the gap between reportage, psychological profile and iconic Stern portrait, whilst maintaining the delicate balance of intimacy and respect towards the subject.
