Lot 419 Jim Dine. Heart. Ca. 1970. …

Heart. Ca. 1970.

Pop Art – Colour silk-screen on smooth, strong wove paper. Signed and numbered. Spot-mounted to underlying mat. - Slightly browned in former mat section, slight pinch pleat at upper and lower middle margin, few superficial crack marks within the depiction, esp. in lower area, isolated superficial paper abrasion in lower margin, verso slightly darkened in lower margin, very isolated faint stain, narrow trace of previous mounting along the margins, all in all good. Very superb, contrast-rich and wonderfully nuanced impression with narrow margin. - One of 100 copies. - Among Jim Dine's most iconic motifs are his "Hearts," which he depicts time and again in countless variations and with expressive, vibrant colors. For Dine, the heart is a canvas, a form with limitless potential for conveying feelings, experiences, and memories. Through an expressive, accessible visual language and a vibrant, energetic style, he has succeeded in etching it into the hearts of his viewers, and it is considered perhaps the artist's most emotional and personal expression.
