Amerikanisches Post War – Eines von 45 Exemplaren. - Blatt 4 aus der gleichnamigen 4-teiligen Mappe. - Hrsg. v.

American Post War – Giclee colour pigment print on copperplate paper. Signed, dated and numbered. Spot-mounted to underlying mat. Framed under glass. - Very slight crease mark in lower right margin, all in all very good. Superb, colour-fresh and contrast-rich impression of the format-filling depiction. - One of 45 copies. - Work 4 from the 4-parted portfolio of the same name. Publ. by Geuer & Geuer Art GmbH, Düsseldorf. - In his print series "Childhood," Julian Schnabel explored a significant event in American history, depicting the iconic battle scene in which American troops under George Washington won a hard-fought victory over British forces. The victory marked the beginning of American independence. For this series, Schnabel used the "American Revolution Wallpaper"-which hung in the White House until 1999-as his source material. Through color revisions, he creates contrasts to the charged scene, frames the heroism with light purple accents, and adds another layer by imitating tears and alluding to the wallpaper, which was removed after 1999 and hung in a different location.
