18-teilige Arbeit. Für Sol LeWitt (Oktober). 1990. 17 Blatt mit Feder in Schwarz und Offsetlithographie auf dünnem Velin, ein Blatt C-Print auf Kodak Fotopapier. Je 29,5 x 21 cm bzw. 29,7 x 20,7 cm. Eingelegt in ein von der Künstlerin beschriftetes, gefaltetes Blatt. - Insgesamt sehr gut und ausgesprochen sauber.

Konzeptkunst – Die Arbeit "Für Sol LeWitt" gehört zu einem Werkkomplex, den Hanne Darboven in mehreren monatlichen Varianten realisierte. Die hier vorliegende 17-seitige Notation des Monats Oktober ist zugleich Hommage und konzeptuelle Grundsatzerklärung: Sol LeWitt war es, der Darboven in New York ihre erste Ausstellung vermittelte und der sich mit Daborven in einer Wahlverwandschaft zweier Konzeptkünstler verband, die Zeit, Serialität und Schrift als Bildmittel begreifen. Darbovens handschriftliche Zahlensysteme von additiven Kolonnen, Quersummen und Gesamtergebissen machen den Ablauf von Zeit sichtbar, die beigegebene Farbfotografie setzt einen visuellen Ankerpunkt in das abstrakte Zifferngefüge und fungiert für Darboven als die umgebende Welt, deren Vermessung sie sich verschrieben hat.

Conceptual Art – 18-parted work. 17 sheets drawn in black pen and ink as well as offset lithograph on thin vellum, plus one C-print on Kodak photographic paper. Enclosed in a folded sheet inscribed by the artist.- Overall in very good condition and exceptionally clean. - The work "For Sol LeWitt" forms part of a series of works that Hanne Darboven produced in several monthly variations. The 17-page notation, combined with a photograph of an abstract object in the centre of her studio, is both a tribute and a conceptual manifesto: it was Sol LeWitt who arranged Darboven's first exhibition in New York and who formed a kind of elective affinity with her as fellow conceptual artists who understood time, seriality and writing as pictorial means. Darboven's handwritten numerical systems of additive columns, cross-sums and total results make the passage of time visible, in "For Sol LeWitt", this system spans a full month. The accompanying colour photograph provides a visual anchor point within the abstract numerical structure and functions for Darboven as the world being measured.
