Kunstverein Ulm. - Seit den 1990er Jahren entwickelte sich Kiki Smiths Werk zunehmend zu einer interdisziplinären Erkundung von Natur und Kosmos, in der Mensch, Tier und Universum in einem gleichwertigen und wechselseitigen Verhältnis erscheinen. In Bee and Stars von 2005 verdichtet sich dieses Weltbild zu einem poetischen Bild der Gleichzeitigkeit aller Dinge: Die Biene erscheint als Sinnbild des Natürlichen, Vergänglichen und zugleich Lebensnotwendigen die auf die Unendlichkeit des Sternenhimmels trifft. Die Sternformen sind mittels Stempel aufgebracht, ein Verfahren, das mechanische Wiederholung und manuelle Einzigartigkeit in einem vereint und jedem der 100 Blätter seinen unverwechselbaren Charakter verleiht.

Overall, very good condition. - One of 100 individually created unique works. - Since the 1990s, Kiki Smith's work has increasingly evolved into an interdisciplinary exploration of nature and the cosmos, in which humans, animals and the universe appear in an equal and reciprocal relationship. In *Bee and Stars* (2005), this worldview crystallises into a poetic image of the simultaneity of all things: The bee appears as a symbol of the natural, the transient and, at the same time, the essential to life, encountering the infinity of the starry sky. The star shapes are applied using a stamp, a technique that combines mechanical repetition with manual uniqueness, lending each of the 100 sheets its own distinctive character.
