Klassische Moderne – Lorenz NsK 4.3.1. - Vgl. Ausstellungskatalog Otto Dix - Zwischen den Kriegen, Haus am Waldsee, Berlin 1977. - Die vorliegende Zeichnung lässt sich in den Kontext des Neusachlichen Akts einordnen und entstand im Zusammenhang mit dem Gemälde Selbstbildnis mit Muse aus dem selben Jahr, in welchem sich Dix als distanzierter, teilnahmsloser Beobachter stilisiert, der scheinbar wahrheitsgetreu darstellt, was er sieht. Dieselbe Spannung zwischen kühler Beobachtung und körperlicher Präsenz prägt auch die vorliegende Zeichnung, der Dix eine plastische Dichte ohne jegliche Sentimentalität verleiht. Mit dem Wechsel zwischen präzisen Konturen und breitem Wischen verweist die Komposition auf Dix' lebenslange Auseinandersetzung mit dem menschlichen Körper als sozialem und sinnlichem Phänomen.

Overall, in very good condition. - Lorenz NsK 4.3.1. - See the exhibition catalogue 'Otto Dix - Between the Wars', Haus am Waldsee, Berlin 1977. - This drawing can be placed within the context of the New Objectivity nude and was created in connection with the painting Self-Portrait with Muse from the same year, in which Dix styles himself as a detached, impassive observer who appears to depict what he sees truthfully. The same tension between cool observation and physical presence also characterises this drawing, to which Dix lends a sculptural density devoid of any sentimentality. Through the alternation between precise contours and broad strokes, the composition reflects Dix's lifelong engagement with the human body as a social and sensual phenomenon.
