Französische Moderne – Provenienz: Archiv Tiziani, Rom - Nachlass Raf Ravaioli - Privatsammlung Palm Beach, Florida - Tiziani Archives, Palm Beach Auctions, 2019. - Karl Lagerfeld schuf in den frühen 1960er Jahren für das römische Modehaus Tiziani eine Serie von über 160 Modezeichnungen, die mit einer eleganten, federleichten Linienführung die Essenz der Haute Couture einfangen. Mit Faserstiften, Kugelschreiber und Kreide auf Karton entwickelte er schlanke, langgestreckte Figurinen, deren fließende Silhouetten eine traumhafte Leichtigkeit und zeitlose Raffinesse ausstrahlen. Die Zeichnungen bestechen durch lebendige Farbakzente und ornamentale Muster, die den opulenten Couture-Stil des Hauses Tiziani - und seiner prominenten Kundschaft wie Elizabeth Taylor - widerspiegeln. Trotz ihrer funktionalen Entstehung als Arbeitsvorlage für Schnitt und Fertigung wirken die Blätter wie eigenständige Kunstwerke, in denen Lagerfelds unverwechselbare ästhetische Handschrift bereits vollständig ausgebildet ist.

Using felt-tip pens, ballpoint pens, and chalk on cardboard, he developed slender, elongated figures whose flowing silhouettes exude a dreamlike lightness and timeless sophistication. The drawings captivate with vibrant color accents and ornamental patterns that reflect the opulent couture style of the Tiziani house-and its prominent clientele, such as Elizabeth Taylor. Despite their functional origin as working templates for pattern-making and production, the sheets appear as independent works of art in which Lagerfeld's unmistakable aesthetic signature is already fully formed.
