Lot 175 Jean Miotte. 6 Aquatintaradierungen in: …

6 Aquatintaradierungen in: L'Energie en Principe. Hamburg, Edition Dorothea Keeser, 1994. 30 x 22 cm (50 x 32,7).

Informel – 6 aquatint etchings in: L'Energie en Principe. Hamburg, Edition Dorothea Keeser, 1994. Signed in the colophon. - Magnificent prints in vibrant, rich colors, the gestural energy physically emerges from the surface through subtle relief effects. One of 65 copies. In "L'Energie en principe," Miotte translates his gestural, non-figurative painting into the medium of color etching. The six prints do not depict figures or narratives, but rather condensed fields of movement and tension composed of lines and colored forms. Contrasts between bold colors and white create a dynamic interplay of density and emptiness. The etchings embody Miotte's central theme: energy as a visible trace of freedom and control within the pictorial space. In dialogue with Pleynet's texts, an abstract, poetic reflection on energy and movement emerges. Within the context of Lyrical Abstraction, the book stands as a concentrated example of the connection between printmaking, gestural expression, and modern art theory. Miotte works with bold, often primary hues and contrasts them with white, which he himself has described as light and as the dissolution of boundaries, this contrast also structures the etchings. Gestural brushstrokes and drawing marks are translated into the graphic technique, forming a "cursive" drawing in space that evokes dance and physical movement.
