Rote und Blaue Sonne. 1984. Farbserigraphie auf festem Velin. 100 x 70 cm. Signiert, datiert und nummeriert sowie mit dem Trockenstempel des Herausgebers. Punktuell auf Unterlage montiert. - Verso mit leichten Bereibungen, dezentem Farbdurchschlag und sehr vereinzelt blassen Farbflecken. Insgesamt sehr gut und wohlerhalten. Prachtvoller, farbsatter und kontrastreicher Druck der formatfüllenden, großformatigen Komposition.

Erker Presse, St. Gallen. - In der vorliegenden Farbserigraphie überträgt Otto Piene einmal mehr kosmische Phänomene, Licht und Energie in das Medium der Druckgraphik. Vor tiefem, sattem Schwarz entfalten sich rote und blaue Sonnenformen, die sich sowohl in Form von kompakten, strahlenden Kernen, als auch nach oben in Form eines Feldes feiner Farbpunkte zeigen. Die charakteristische Punktrasterung, die Piene bereits in seinen frühen Rasterbildern und Lichtballetten entwickelte, erscheint hier als formales wie inhaltliches Prinzip: Licht wird nicht abgebildet, sondern als Ausbreitung und Streuung erfahrbar gemacht.

ZERO – Colour silkscreen print on sturdy vellum. Signed, dated and numbered. Mounted in spots on underlying mat. On the reverse slight scuffing, subtle ink bleed-through and very occasional faint ink stains. Overall in very good condition and well preserved. A magnificent print, rich in colour and high in contrast, featuring a large-format composition that fills the entire sheet. - Not in Rotloff. - One of 100 copies. - In this colour silkscreen print, Otto Piene once again translates cosmic phenomena, light and energy into the medium of printmaking. Against a deep, rich black, red and blue solar forms unfold, appearing both as compact, radiant cores and, extending upwards, as a field of fine coloured dots. The characteristic dot grid, which Piene had already developed in his early grid paintings and 'light ballets', appears here as a principle governing both form and content: light is not depicted, but is made tangible through its propagation and scattering.
