Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Diese Zeichnung ist eine abstrakte Komposition, in der zweigeteilte, wurzelartige Formen symmetrisch nach oben drängen und dabei sowohl aufbrechende Knospen als auch Krallen oder archaische Idolfiguren evozieren - ein Formvokabular, das zwischen Natur, Körper und Mythos oszilliert. Prägend für diese organische Formensprache war Szabós ungewöhnliche Ausbildung: Er studierte ab 1947 an der Pariser École des Beaux-Arts, arbeitete parallel als Steinmetz an der gotischen Kathedrale von Beauvais und eignete sich so ein handwerklich-materielles Gespür für wachsende, aus dem Rohblock befreite Form an - ein Erbe, das unmittelbar in das Blatt eingeschrieben ist. Die sfumato-artige Schattenführung, die dunkle Kerne nach außen auflöst, verweist auf die skulpturale Sensibilität des Bildhauers, für den Zeichnungen stets Denk- und Studienräume seiner plastischen Arbeit waren. Stilistisch bewegt sich das Blatt im Umfeld des europäischen Biomorphismus der Nachkriegszeit: Szabó stellte gemeinsam mit Jean Arp, Brancusi und Henry Moore aus - Meistern organischer Abstraktion, deren Einfluss auf seine Formentwicklung unverkennbar ist. Inhaltlich schreibt sich die Arbeit in Szabós lebenslanges Interesse an archaischen Kulturen ein: Erfahrungen bei den Inuit (1953) und Reisen zu Urzivilisationen schlagen sich in dieser Beschwörung von Keimkraft, Wachstum und chthonischer Energie nieder. Die Zeichnung ist damit kein beiläufiges Skizzenblatt, sondern ein verdichtetes Zeugnis seiner künstlerischen Kernidee - dass alle Form aus einem pulsierenden, ungeteilten Lebensgrund hervorwächst.

Formative to this organic visual language was Szabó's unusual training: from 1947 he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris while simultaneously working as a stonemason on the Gothic cathedral of Beauvais, acquiring a craftsman's material intuition for form liberated from the raw block - a legacy inscribed directly into this sheet. The sfumato-like handling of shadow, dissolving dark cores outward, points to the sculptor's sensibility, for whom drawings were always spaces of thought and study for his three-dimensional work. Stylistically, the sheet moves within the orbit of European post-war Biomorphism: Szabó exhibited alongside Jean Arp, Brancusi, and Henry Moore - masters of organic abstraction whose influence on his formal development is unmistakable. Thematically, the work belongs to Szabó's lifelong engagement with archaic cultures: his experiences among the Inuit (1953) and travels to primordial civilizations resonate in this invocation of germinal energy, growth, and chthonic force. The drawing is thus no casual sketch, but a concentrated testament to his core artistic conviction - that all form emerges from a pulsating, undivided source of life.
