Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Selten als Unikat von Paolozzi bezeichnet, wohl Color Trial Proof. - "Perpetuum Mobile" verhandelt die Idee des sich ewig Bewegenden als Metapher für die von Technik und Konsum getriebene Moderne und übersetzt sie in eine visuelle Maschine aus Fragmenten. Die ineinander verschränkten geometrischen Formen, Diagramme und pseudo-technischen Bauteile erinnern an Konstruktionspläne, sabotieren jedoch zugleich jeden eindeutigen Funktionszusammenhang und unterlaufen so den Glauben an rational steuerbaren Fortschritt. In der Überlagerung von klar konturierten Flächen, industriell wirkenden Farbblöcken und collageartigen Versatzstücken spiegelt sich Paolozzis Auseinandersetzung mit Pop Art und Nachkriegstechnologie, wie sie sein Werk seit den 1950er-Jahren prägt. Der Druck wirkt damit wie ein eingefrorener Moment in einem endlosen Kreislauf von Produktion, Zirkulation und Verschleiß - ein "Perpetuum Mobile" der Bilder und Zeichen, das den Betrachter zugleich fasziniert und verunsichert. Indem Paolozzi die Ästhetik des Technischen appropri­­iert, ohne eine reale Maschine zu liefern, macht er die Utopie des Perpetuum Mobile als kritischen Kommentar zur Moderne sichtbar und legt die ideologischen Projektionen offen, die sich an die Maschine knüpfen.
