Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Der Trash Man gehört zu HA Schults international bekannter Werkreihe Trash People, die einen der bedeutendsten Vorreiter der Aktions- und Objektkunst seit den 1960er Jahren darstellt. Seit den 1990er Jahren kreierte Schult über eintausend dieser menschenhohen Müllskulpturen, die als Mahnmale gegen Umweltverschmutzung und Ressourcenraub weltweit aufgestellt wurden. Jede dieser Skulpturen ist ein Unikat, hergestellt aus zusammengedrücktem, anorganischem Abfall wie Cola-Dosen, Kabeln, Kaffeekannen, Tastaturen und anderen alltäglichen Abfällen. Die einzelnen Komponenten werden mit einem Spezialkleber dauerhaft miteinander verbunden und anschließend individuell farbig übersprüht. Die Auswahl des Materials folgt dem Programm: Der Abfall der Konsumgesellschaft dient als Material für die Kunst, die Skulpturen stellen somit selbst ein Spiegelbild der Wegwerfmentalität dar. Die Trash People sind in namhaften öffentlichen Sammlungen wie dem MoMA in New York, der Tate Gallery in London und dem Centre Pompidou in Paris vertreten. Durch ihre internationalen Auftritte und die mediale Präsenz ist sie zu einem der bekanntesten Symbole für Umweltkritik in der zeitgenössischen Kunst geworden. Das Los wird aufgrund der speziellen Beschaffenheit an einem externen Standort gelagert.

The Trash Man is part of HA Schult's internationally renowned Trash People series, one of the most important pioneers of action and object art since the 1960s. Since the 1990s, Schult has created over a thousand of these human-sized rubbish sculptures, which have been erected worldwide as memorials against environmental pollution and resource depletion. Each of these sculptures is unique, made from compressed, inorganic waste such as cola cans, cables, coffee pots, keyboards and other everyday waste. The individual components are permanently bonded together with a special adhesive and then individually sprayed over in colour. The choice of material follows the programme: the waste of consumer society serves as material for the art, and the sculptures themselves are thus a reflection of the throwaway mentality. The Trash People are represented in renowned public collections such as the MoMA in New York, the Tate Gallery in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Through its international appearances and media presence, it has become one of the best-known symbols of environmental criticism in contemporary art. Due to its special nature, the lot will be stored at an external location.
