Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Kremsmayer arbeitet auf Papier bevorzugt in Gouache und Pastell, wobei der Papiergrund selbst zum aktiven Bildträger wird - nicht als neutrale Fläche, sondern als saugfähiger, atmender Untergrund, der die Farbverläufe mitgestaltet. Die Technik des Nass-in-Nass-Malens erzeugt jene für ihn typischen ineinanderfließenden Farbräume, in denen Konturen aufgelöst und Licht gleichsam in die Materie eingeschrieben wird. Während seiner mehrjährigen Studienaufenthalte in Barcelona schloss Kremsmayer eine persönliche Bekanntschaft mit Antoni Tàpies und Joan Hernández Pijuan - zwei zentralen Figuren der iberischen Nachkriegsavantgarde. Diese Begegnung war formativ: Tàpies' Informel und Materialästhetik - die Erhebung von Oberfläche, Spur und Materie zur eigentlichen Bildaussage - spiegelt sich in Kremsmayers Behandlung von Faktur und Malgrund wider. Pijuans meditative Reduktion und Linienhaftigkeit, seine Arbeit mit Leere und zartem Farbauftrag auf Papier, klingt in Kremsmayers empfindsamerer, lasierender Seite nach.

Kremsmayer prefers to work on paper using gouache and pastel, whereby the paper itself becomes an active medium-not as a neutral surface, but as an absorbent, breathing substrate that helps shape the color gradients. The wet-on-wet painting technique produces those interflowing color spaces typical of his work, in which contours dissolve and light is, as it were, inscribed into the material. During his several-year study stays in Barcelona, Kremsmayer became personally acquainted with Antoni Tàpies and Joan Hernández Pijuan-two central figures of the postwar Iberian avant-garde. This encounter was formative: Tàpies' Informel and material aesthetics-the elevation of surface, trace, and matter to the very essence of the pictorial statement-are reflected in Kremsmayer's treatment of texture and painting surface. Pijuan's meditative reduction and linearity, his work with emptiness and delicate application of paint on paper, resonate in Kremsmayer's more sensitive, glazed side.
