WorldCat/OCLC und KVK verzeichnen lediglich 3 Exemplare weltweit, wovon 2 in Deutschland. Im Gegensatz zur Ausgabe von Métiviers Plänen für die Münchener Synagoge (1825) für uns auf Auktionen seit den Anfängen der digitalisierten Aufzeichnungen um 1900 nicht nachweisbar. - Der Franzose Jean Baptiste Métivier (1781-1857), seit 1824 königl. Bayerischer Baurat, erhielt 1829 erhält den Auftrag zum Bau für die fürstl. Thurn und Taxische Reitschule, die 1832 fertigestellt wurde und hier dokumentiert ist. "... der fürstliche Marstall zählt zu den größten und besten Werken Métiviers, die sich erhalten haben" (H. Reidel, Kat. Klassizismus). - Die satt lithographierten Tafeln zeigen einen Grundriss, einen Lageplan, Ansichten, Fassaden, Details der Innen- und Außendekoration sowie Konstruktionsdetails. - Alle Tafeln mit dem Blindprägestempel des Autors (Großbuchstabe M für Métivier) im vorderen weißen Rand. - Provenienz: Thurn und Taxische Hofbibliothek, mit dem lithographierten, das Familienwappen inkorporierende Ex Libris auf dem Vorderspiegel und einem hs. Bibliotheksetikett auf dem Vorderspiegel. - Vorsätze und Titelei etw. fingerfleckig, durchgehend stockfleckig, sonst gut erhaltenes Exemplar dieses Rarissimums.

Architecture – Architecture. - First and only edition of the plans for the famous princely Thurn and Taxis Riding School. - For references see above. - Probably published only in a small print run, extremely rare in institutional collections and on the market alike. WorldCat/OCLC and KVK list only 3 copies worldwide, of which 2 are in Germany. Unlike the edition of Métivier's plans for the Munich Synagogue (1825), not verifiable for us at auctions at all since the beginning of the records around 1900. - The Frenchman Jean Baptiste Métivier (1781-1857), since 1824 Royal Buidling Counselor for the Bavarian King, received the commission to build the princely Thurn and Taxis Riding School in 1829, which was completed in 1832 and uniquely documented in present volume. "...the princely stables are among Métivier's largest and best surviving works" (H. Reidel, Cat. Classicism, see above). - The richly lithographed plates show a floor plan, a site plan, elevations, facades, details of the interior and exterior decoration, and construction details. - All plates bear Métivier's blind stamp (capital letter M) in the front white margin. - Provenance: Thurn and Taxis Court Library, with the lithographed bookplate incorporating the family coat of arms on the front pastedown and a handwritten library label on the front pastedown. - Endpapers and title page slightly finger-marked, foxing throughout, otherwise a well-preserved copy of this rare item indeed.
