Architektur – Erste und einzige Ausgabe. - Nicht in Barbier und Monglod. - Die seltene Broschüre zeigt den Autor als Architekturenthusiasten und listet seine Entwürfe auf, darunter die geplante Stadt "Napoléon-Athènes" bei Rom. Seine visionären Projekte fanden jedoch bei Akademien und Behörden keine Zustimmung. - Giorgio Grognet de Vassé (1774-1862) war ein maltesischer Architekt und Altertumsforscher. Ursprünglich zum Priester ausgebildet, schloss er sich 1798 den Kräften der Französischen Revolution an und sammelte im Ingenieurkorps wichtige Erfahrungen. - Sein bekanntestes Werk ist die Rotunde von Mosta: Da die alte Pfarrkirche zu klein geworden war, entwarf er einen neoklassizistischen Neubau nach dem Vorbild des Pantheons. Trotz Widerstand wurde der Bau 1833 begonnen und nach 28 Jahren vollendet. - Schniutt, Titel- u. letztes Blatt braunfleckig, sonst gut erhalten.
Architecture – First and only edition. - Modern half leather in contemp. style with spine gilt. - This rare pamphlet presents the author as an architectural enthusiast and lists his designs, including the planned city of "Napoléon-Athènes" near Rome. His visionary projects, however, failed to gain approval from academies and authorities. - Giorgio Grognet de Vassé (1774-1862) was a Maltese architect and antiquarian. Originally trained as a priest, he joined the French Revolution in 1798 and gained valuable experience in the Corps of Engineers. - His most famous work is the Rotunda of Mosta: As the old parish church had become too small, he designed a new neoclassical building modeled on the Pantheon. Despite opposition, construction began in 1833 and was completed 28 years later. - Edges, title page, and last page brownstained, otherwise well preserved.
