Collected Essays in Ornamental Art. Übersetzt aus dem Schwedischem von H. C. March. Textband und Tafelband. Mit über 100 in den Text gedruckten Abbildungen und 20 ganzseitigen Tafeln. Stockholm, Aftenbladets Tryckeri, 1927. VII, 128 S. 2 Bll., 20 Tafeln mit je einem vorgebundenen Textblatt. 4° u. Gr.-Folio. Braunes OHLdr mit goldgepr. DTitel und RTitel (bestoßen und berieben, Abschabung an vorderem Deckel des Textbandes).

Kunstwissenschaften – Eins von 300 nummerierten Exemplaren. - Mit handschriftlichem und datiertem Besitzvermerk des Ethnologen Martin Guisinde. - Im Zuge der Vanadis Expedition in den Jahren 1883 und 1885 reiste der schwedische Ethnograph und Archäologe Hjalmar Stolpe (1841-1905) nach Südamerika, Ozeanien, Asien und Teile Europas. Während dieser Reise sammelte er etliche Exemplare für die spätere ethnographische Sammlung des Naturgeschichte Museums in Stckholm. Die in diesem Werk zusammengetragenen Publikationen von Stolpe wurden in den Jahren 1890 und 1896 veröffentlicht und befassen sich mit der Entwicklung von ornamentaler Kunst in indigenen Bevölkerungen. - Ränder minmal gebräunt. Ein Blatt im Tafelband lose. Insgesamt sehr gut erhaltene Exemplare.

Science of Art – Translated from the Swedish by H. C. March. Text volume and plate volume. With over 100 illustrations printed in the text and 20 full-page plates. Brown original half leather with gilt stamped front title and spine title (bumped and rubbed, scuff to front cover of text volume). - One of 300 numbered copies. - With handwritten and dated ownership note by the ethnologist Martin Guisinde. - In the course of the Vanadis Expedition in 1883 and 1885, the Swedish ethnographer and archaeologist Hjalmar Stolpe (1841-1905) traveled to South America, Oceania, Asia and parts of Europe. During this trip he collected a number of specimens for the ethnographic collection of the Natural History Museum in Stckholm. The publications by Stolpe compiled in this work were published in 1890 and 1896 and deal with the development of ornamental art in indigenous populations. - Margins slightly browned. One leaf in the plate volume loose. Overall very well preserved copies.
