Modern Literature and Art – First individual edition of the novella, signed by the author and artist. With 11 full-page woodcuts and 4 two-colour woodcut initials by Otto Nückel. Bound in the original publisher's half-vellum with gilt spine title and cover vignette, as well as gilt top edge. Boards additionally covered with embroidered silk. - For references see above. - One of 150 copies numbered by hand with Arabic numerals (total print run 220 copies), the entire print run of this second volume of the bibliophilic Phantasus Press signed by Thomas Mann and Otto Nückel in the imprint. - The voluminous mould paper with slight browning, overall well-preserved copy indeed, with strong, deep black impressions of Nückel's wood-cuts.
