Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Diesch 2668 - Kirchner 15532 - Die Jugend, welche seit ihrer Gründung 1896 bis 1940 erschien gilt als die wichtigste Zeitschrift des gleichnamigen Jugendstils, dessen Namen sie mitbegründete. Sie beinhaltete sowohl satirische, als auch politisch-kritische Texte und war gleichsam ein prominentes Forum für die künstlerische (Gebrauchs-)grafik ihrer Zeit. So finden sich hier zahlreiche Ornamente und Illustrationen des Art Nouveau, wie auch Einflüsse des Impressionismus versammelt. - Insgesamt gut erhaltene Sammlung.

Modern Literature and Art – 18 volumes. With numerous illustrations and color plates. Half-cloth with gilt-stamped spine titles (heavily rubbed and bumped, joints partly broken). - The Jugend which was published between 1896 and 1940 was the most important and founding magazine of the German Jugendstil (Art Nouveau). The Magazine contained satirical contributions as much as political-critical texts and was also a prominent forum for the graphic arts of its age. There are numerous ornaments and illustrations of the Art Nouveau and influences of the impressionism present. - Overall well preserved collection.
