- Wohlerhalten.
Modern Literature and Art – With a lithograph after a drawing by Alberto Giacometti. 12 leaves. Hand-bound white half-leather binding in white goatskin with gold-embossed title and inlaid colored paper in burgundy and black. (Probably from the circle of bookbinder Pierre-Lucien Martin). One of 70 copies on Normandy vellum. Ramures is a rare avant-garde poetry collection by Dada founder Tristan Tzara (1896-1963), published in 1936. It marks Tzara's transition from Dadaism to Surrealism and political activism, with fragmentary, visually powerful verses about nature, destruction, and revolution. It includes a lithograph based on a drawing by Alberto Giacometti, whose ascetic lines complement the ramure-like (branchy) themes of the text - a milestone for modern poetry. "Ramures" ('branches' or "groves") evokes branching, organic images that reflect Tzara's break with pure nihilism. It falls within his phase of Surrealist retreat (1935) and early Communism (1936).
