Saint John Perse. Poesies. 10 zincs de Fernand Michel. Buchobjekt. 1984. Ca. 23 x 17 x 2,5 cm. Mit 8 Doppelblättern, davon 7 mit montierten Zinkarbeiten, dazu poetische Zitate von Saint-John Perse. Original Leinen-Mappe mit goldgeprägtem Titel auf Rückenschild. Im originalen Kartonschuber.
Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Fernand Michel, ursprünglich Buchbinder, zählt zu den eigenständigen Positionen zwischen Art brut und art singulier. Seit den 1950er bzw. frühen 1960er Jahren schuf er seine charakteristischen Arbeiten aus gefundenen, gebrauchten und bereits oxidierten Zinkplatten und Zinkrinnen, deren von Witterung und Korrosion gezeichnete Oberflächen er künstlerisch aufgriff. - Vorliegend 8 Doppelbögen, davon einer mit dem Titel. 7 Doppelbögen jeweils innen links mit handschriftlich eingetragenen Zitaten aus der Dichtung von Saint-John Perse (Alexis Léger, 1887-1975), innen rechts mit montierten originalen Zinkarbeiten. Drei weitere, ehemals auf drei Blättern rechts unten angebrachte Zinkblätter wurden entfernt. - Mit entsprechenden Ablösespuren, ein Blatt stärker betroffen. Ecken und Ränder leicht knickspurig. Einband leicht berieben, Rücken etwas lichtgehellt. Insgesamt gut erhalten, mit nuancierten, materialcharakteristischen Zinkarbeiten.
Modern Literature and Art – Book object. Contains 8 double-page spreads, 7 of which feature mounted zinc engravings, accompanied by poetic quotations from Saint John Perse. Original linen slipcase with gold-embossed title on the spine label. In the original cardboard slipcase. - Fernand Michel, originally a bookbinder, is regarded as one of the distinctive figures straddling the spectrum between Art Brut and Art Singulier. From the 1950s and early 1960s onwards, he created his characteristic works using found, used and already oxidised zinc plates and zinc gutters, artistically incorporating their surfaces, which bore the marks of weathering and corrosion. - This volume comprises 8 double-page spreads, one of which bears the title. 7 double-page spreads each feature handwritten quotations from the poetry of Saint-John Perse (Alexis Léger, 1887-1975) on the inside left, and mounted original zinc works on the inside right. Three further zinc sheets, formerly attached to the bottom right of three pages, have been removed. - With corresponding traces of detachment, one sheet more severely affected. Corners and edges show slight creasing. Binding slightly rubbed, spine slightly faded. Overall in good condition, with nuanced zinc engravings characteristic of the material.
