Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Herzfelde 59. - Jentsch 141. - Bülow 54. - Ausgabe C des ikonischen Werks, neben der Ausgabe A die am vollständigsten ausgestattete aller Ausgaben, mit den farbmächtigen Aquarellen im Siebenfarben-Offset und den Lithos der Zeichnungen, alle sorgfältig abgezogen auf festem Offsetpapier. - "Ecce Homo", eine der berühmtesten Graphikfolgen von George Grosz, durfte in ihrem ursprünglichen Umfang nur etwas mehr als ein Jahr verkauft werden. Die grob satirischen, schonungslosen Darstellungen einer kapitalisierten, brutalisierten und sexualisierten deutschen Nachkriegsgesellschaft erregten großes Aufsehen und brachten Grosz sogar vor Gericht. Er wurde zu einer Geldstrafe verurteilt und 15 der 16 Farbtafeln sowie 17 der Zeichnungen des Werks wurden in der Folge konsisziert. - Tafel 50 doppelt enthalten. - Im Schnitt sowie die ersten und letzten Blätter leicht stockfleckig. Vereinzelt minimal fleckig. Insgesamt sehr sammelwürdiges Exemplar mit sauberen Tafeln, die Farben kräftig und leuchtend.

Illustrated original laid paper (stained, rubbed in places, and, as is usually the case, with minor edge wear due to the overhanging edges). - Edition C of the iconic work, besides Edition A the most fully produced of all editions, with the vibrant watercolors in seven-color offset and the lithographs of the drawings, all carefully printed on heavy offset paper. - "Ecce Homo," one of George Grosz's most famous graphic series, was only permitted to be sold in its original form for a little over a year. The crudely satirical, merciless depictions of a capitalist, brutalized, and sexualized post-war German society caused a great stir and even brought Grosz to court. He was fined, and 15 of the 16 color plates and 17 of the drawings in the work were subsequently confiscated. - Plate 50 is included twice. - The edges of the pages, as well as the first and last sheets, are slightly foxed. There are a few minimal stains. Overall, a very collectible copy with clean plates and vibrant, luminous colors.
