Zt. auf acht erhabenen Bünden über Holzdecken, die Deckel blindgepr. mit doppelten Filetenrahmen und Eckfleurons, diese einfassend ein Mittelstück aus Ranken- und Blattwerk in Rautenform, weiters mit je 4 massiven Eckbeschlägen aus Messing im floralen Dekor, sowie zwei, ebenfalls floral dekorierten Messingschließen und umseitigen Rotschnitt (ein Schließhaken fehlt, Rücken an den Kapitale mit Fehlstellen, teils mit kleinen Bezugsfehlstellen und Einrissen, beschabt).

Theologie und Religionswissenschaften – Monumetale, reich illustrierte frühe niederländische Referenzbibel im massiven Einband. Enthält Altes und Neues Testament, Buch der Propheten und Apokryphen in zwei Spalten mit glossiertem Kommentar. Das Privileg auf dem Titelbl. verso hs. unterfertigt. - Die sogenannte Statenbijbel ist die erste integrale Bibelübersetzung direkt aus dem Hebräischen, Aramäischen und Griechischen ins Niederländische. Sie legte die Grundlage für die Standardisierung des Niederländischen im 17. Jh. - Die mit hübschen illustrierten Kartuschen ausgestatteten uns verso ausführlich mit Legendentext bedruckten Karten mit Darstellungen des Alten und Neuen Testaments, 1. das im Zwischenstromland lokalisiere Paradies, 2. der 40jährigen Wanderschaft des Volkes Israel, 3. Das Land Kanaan. 4. Die Reisen des Apostels Paulus. - Fehlt die Weltkarte von Stoopendaal und der Plan von Jerusalem, sowie der vordere Vorsatz. In den weißen Rändern stellenweise schmal wasserrandig, im Satzspiegel durchgehend gebräunt und stellenweise braunfleckig. Insgesamt trotz der Mängel gut erhaltenes Exemplar der für die niederländische Bibel- und darüber hinaus Sprachgeschichte grundlegenden Ausgabe.

Bound in a massive contemporary calf leather binding of the period on eight raised bands over wooden covers, the covers blind-stamped with double fillet frames and corner fleurons, a central piece of tendrils and foliage in a diamond shape, furthermore with 4 solid brass corner fittings in floral decoration, as well as two brass clasps, also decorated with floral decoration, as well as red cut (one clasp hook is missing, spine with losses at the head and tail, partly with small losses of covering and tears, scuffed). - Contains the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Prophets, and the Apocrypha in two columns with glossed commentary. The privilege on the title page is signed in manuscript on the verso. - The so-called Statenbijbel is the first complete Bible translation directly from Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek into Dutch. It laid the foundation for the standardization of Dutch in the 17th century. - The maps, adorned with attractive illustrated cartouches and printed with extensive legends on the verso, depict scenes from the Old and New Testaments: 1. Paradise, located in Mesopotamia, 2. the 40-year wanderings of the Israelites, 3. The land of Canaan, 4. The travels of the Apostle Paul. - The Stoopendaal world map and the plan of Jerusalem, as well as the front endpaper, are missing. The white margins show some narrow water staining, the text block is browned throughout and has some brown spots. Overall, despite these flaws, it is a well-preserved copy of this edition, which is fundamental to the history of the Dutch Bible and the language in general.
