Geschichtswissenschaften – Selten. - Vgl. Zeitlin, Bibliotheca hebraica post-Mendelssohniana, 403. - "Am 8. Januar 1784 richteten die Direktoren der jüdischen Freischule zu Berlin, Isaak Daniel Itzig und David Friedländer, ein Gesuch an König Friedrich II., in dem sie um Erlaubnis baten, eine Buchdruckerei und eine Buchhandlung anlegen zu dürfen, deren Erträge der Freischule zu Gute kommen sollten. In der am 3. Februar 1784 erteilten Konzession hieß es, "daß bemeldeter Frey-Schule erlaubet seyn soll, Bücher in der hebraeischen und andern orienthalischen Sprachen zu drucken". Der hebräische bzw. "der orientalische" Text musste zwar den hauptsächlichen Umfang der zu verlegenden Schrift ausmachen, doch erlaubt war, Übersetzungen, Anmerkungen und Erläuterungen "in jeder andern Sprache" und der dazu gehörigen Schrift hinzuzufügen. Das gesamte Verlagssortiment der Orientalischen Buchdruckerei bestand schließlich in der Herausgabe von hebräischen Schriften oder deutschen Übersetzungen in hebräischen Buchstaben. (Vgl. Lohmann, Orientalische Buchdruckerei). - Titelblatt mit Tintenfleck, Ränder gebräunt und leicht stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

History – With 1 folded engraved plate with geometric diagrams. Contemporary Half cloth (rubbed, bumped and chafed.) Contains an handbook for Geometry and Trigonometry and an extensive study to Maimonides. Rare Print from the berlin jewish school, which got in 1784 the permission to print their own publication in hebrew. - Title with small ink stain, pages partly slightly browned and minimal stained. Overall in good condition.
