Preces viginti quatuor linguis editae. Mit gestochenem Porträt d. Verf. als Frontispiz, gestochenem Titel und Textdruck in zahlreichen verschiedenen Typen. Venedig, Dr. u. Vlg. d. Mechitaristen-Kongregation, 1823. 4 Bl. (Front., Tit., Vorw.), 422, 1 Bl., (Index). Kl.-8°. Geglättetes und auf den Decken gesprenkeltes Kalbldr. d. Zt. mit goldgepr. RTit., ornament. Deckel- u. Rückenvergoldung, Vorsätzen aus Steinmarmorpapier, umseitigen Goldschnitt und Lesezeichenbändchen (Ecken u. Kanten gering bestoßen, minimal berieben).
Buchwesen – Edel gebundene Ausgabe des druckhistorischen Kuriosums. - Sammelband mit Gebeten des armenischen Patriarchen Nerses IV. Schnorhali ("des Begnadeten", 1102-1173) in 24 Sprachen und zahlreichen verschiedenen Drucktypen, darunter Arabisch, Armenisch, Chaldäisch, Georgisch, Griechisch, Hebräisch, Kyrillisch und Persisch. Die 1717 eingerichtete und heute immer noch bestehende Druckerei des armenischen Mechitaristen-Ordens auf der Insel San Lazzaro in der Lagune von Venedig war bekannt für ihr Typenrepertoire nicht-lateinischer Schriften. - Provenienz: Al. Delignières de Bommy, Mitglied der berühmten Familie von französischen Bibliophilen aus Abbeville in der Picardie, mit dessen lithograph. Ex Libris auf dem Vorderspiegel. - Titelei und letzte Bll. stw. leicht stockfleckig, erster fliegender Vorsatz mit Besitzervermerk, sonst wohlerhaltenes, sammelwürdiges Bändchen.
Books on Books, History of Paper and Typography – Superbly bound edition of this curiosity, with text in 24 languages and numerous non-latin typefaces, additionally illustrated with an engraved portrait of the author as frontispiece and an engraved calligraphic title leaf. - Anthology of prayers by the Armenian Patriarch Nerses IV Schnorhali ('the Gifted', 1102-1173), printed in 24 languages and numerous different typefaces, including Arabic, Armenian, Chaldean, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Cyrillic and Persian. The printing house of the Armenian Mechitarist monks on the island of San Lazzaro in the Venetian Lagoon, established in 1717 and still in existence today, was renowned for its big repertoire of non-Latin typefaces. - Provenance: Al. Delignières de Bommy, member of the famous family of French bibliophiles from Abbeville in Picardy, with his lithographic ex libris on the front cover. - Title page and last pages slightly foxed, first front fly-leaf with owners's remark, overall a well-preserved, collectible little volume.
