Inkunabeln - Postinkunabeln

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – Complete copy of the widely circulated devotional book (first published in 1486) in a rare, two-column Strasbourg post-incunabulum edition. Later paperback binding with handwritten title on spine (slightly rubbed and bumped). - The Summa angelica is one of the most important moral theological works of the late Middle Ages, arranged alphabetically. It was a practical, widely used handbook for confessors, influenced Catholic casuistry for centuries, and became a symbol of pre-conciliar moral theology. The popular encyclopedia was condemned by Luther as "Summa plus quam diabolica" and publicly burned in 1520 along with the papal law books. - Flyleaf and title page with two older (contemporary?) handwritten ownership notes, inner fold slightly broken, pages slightly browned and somewhat wavy, overall a nice copy.
