Durchgehend mit Bordüren, Dekorobjekten (Vasen), Zierrahmen und -leisten, Medaillons, Vignetten usw., sowie Initalen und Titel- bzw. Text ausgeschmückt mittels mehrfarbigem Blatt-, Blüten und Rankenwerk. O. O. (Frankreich, wohl Bistum Fréjus), 1847. 1 Bl. (Tit.), 127 (1 w.) S. 26,5 x 17,5 cm. Quadrat- und Rautennotation über Text in Antiqua mit Serifen, beide mit Schablone gemalt in schwarzer Tinte in und auf Bleistiftrahmen und -linien. Folio (ca. 45 x 31 cm). Halb-Maroquinbd. d. Zt. mit goldgepr., ornament. gerahmtem DTit. auf Maroquin-Schild, dekorativer RVergoldung, die Decken bezogen mit Kiebitzpapier (Rücken am unteren Ende mit Fehlstellen, Hintergelenk angebrochen, die Deckel mit Bezugsfehlstellen, beschabt).

Manuskripte und Urkunden – Sauber kalligraphierte und prächtig geschmückte Notenhandschrift von unbekannter Hand nach dem gleichnamigen Werk von E. P. Charbonnier. - Enthält 14 Messgesänge, darunter 10 (2 wiederholt) des Zyklus "Les Huit tons". - Étienne-Paul Charbonnier (1793-1872) war Kanoniker, Organist und Kapellmeister an der Kathedrale von Aix-en-Provence. Er transkribierte zahlreiche kirchenmusikalische Werke für Orgel, im vorliegenden Fall u.a. jene von Henry Dumont (1610-84), wobei Charbonier versuchte damit eine Harmonisierung der acht Töne des römischen Gregorianischen Chorals zu erreichen, der während des Zweiten Kaiserreichs sich großer Beliebtheit erfreute. - Titelei, Vorsätze und einige Blätter in den weißen Rändern mitunter gering fingerfleckig, insgesamt gut erhaltene, wunderschöne Handschrift.

Manuscripts – A neatly stenciled and magnificently decorated musical manuscript by a most skilfull but unknown hand, based on the work of the same name by E. P. Charbonnier. - Contains 14 Mass chants, including 10 (2 repeated) of the cycle "Les Huit tons". Decorated throughout with borders, decorative objects (vases), ornamental frames as well as head- and tail pieces, medallions, vignettes, etc., furthermore with initials and title or text using multicolored foliage, blossoms and tendrils.- Étienne-Paul Charbonnier (1793-1872) was a canon, organist, and choirmaster at Aix-en-Provence Cathedral. He transcribed numerous sacred works for organ, including, in this case, those of Henry Dumont (1610-84), with Charbonnier attempting to harmonize the eight tones of Roman Gregorian chant, which enjoyed great popularity during the Second Empire. - The title page, endpapers, and some leaves occasionally show slight finger marks in the white margins, overall, a well-preserved and beautiful manuscript.
