Idealisierte Felslandschaft im Tondo. Mitteleuropa, 2. Hälfte 18. Jahrhundert. Bleistift auf Velin. 18 x 17,3 cm. - Im rundem Ausschnitt hinterlegt, mit konzentrischer Rahmung auf Karton montiert. Auf dekorativ klassizistischem Unterkarton montiert. Fein ausgeführte, poetisch gesteigerte Landschaftskomposition mit steil aufragenden Felsformationen, Brücke und Wasserlauf in weiter Talöffnung. Die Darstellung folgt weniger einer topographisch genauen Ansicht als dem Typus der idealisierten Landschaft. Das Rundformat steigert den geschlossenen, auf die Bildmitte konzentrierten Charakter der Komposition. Die kunstvolle Überlagerung von Zeichnung und Montierung mit konzentrischen Zonen und schmalen Linienrahmungen verleiht dem Blatt einen ausgeprägt dekorativen, dem Geschmack des späten 18. Jahrhunderts entsprechenden Eindruck. - Kaum merkliche Oberflächenbereibung. Verso mit Spuren früherer Montierung. Insgesamt sehr gut. Zarte filigrane Arbeit.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Pencil on wove paper. A finely executed, poetically heightened landscape composition featuring towering rock formations, a bridge and a stream in a wide valley opening. The depiction follows less a topographically accurate view than the idealised landscape genre. The circular format enhances the enclosed character of the composition, which is concentrated on the centre of the picture. The artful superimposition of drawing and mounting, with concentric zones and narrow line frames, gives the sheet a distinctly decorative appearance in keeping with the tastes of the late 18th century. - Barely noticeable surface wear. Overall, a very good, delicately filigree piece of work.
