Jhd. – Privatsammlung, Berlin. - Pastellzeichnung einer Dame in eleganter Kleidung des dänischen Malers Hugo Larsen, der seine Ausbildung an der Königlich Dänischen Kunstakademie in Kopenhagen absolvierte und sich früh als Porträtist profilieren konnte. Indem er die gelernte, akademische Präzision mit einer modernen, lichtbetonten Auffassung seiner Sujets. Das vorliegende Portrait zeigt möglicherweise seine Freundin Gica Marcussen, die er auch auf weiteren Werken festhielt und sie dabei stets mit einem Ausdruck von Anmut und Würde darstellte. Dabei legt er einen besonderen Fokus auf eine nuancenreiche Modellierung von Teint und Stofflichkeit, die er im Wechsel von realistischer Detailgenauigkeit und impressionistischer Leichtigkeit widergibt. - Papier altersbedingt leicht gebräunt, in den Ränder vereinzelte winzige und kaum merkliche Nadellöchlein. Verso mit Resten einer früheren Skizze. Insgesamt sehr gut.

Paper slightly browned due to age, occasional tiny pinholes in the margins. Verso with remnants of an earlier sketch. Overall very good. - Private Collection, Berlin. - Pastel drawing of a lady in elegant clothing by Danish painter Hugo Larsen, who trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and made a name for himself early on as a portraitist. He combined his academic precision with a modern, light-emphasised interpretation of his subjects. This portrait may show his girlfriend Gica Marcussen, whom he also captured in other works, always depicting her with an expression of grace and dignity. He places particular emphasis on the nuanced modelling of complexion and texture, which he renders in an alternation of realistic detail and impressionistic lightness.
