Varia (mit diversen Schlagworten) – Joseph Hungermüller, ein bayerischer Theatermaler, entwirft eine imposante Theaterkulisse, reich geschmückt mit architektonischen Elementen und für seine außerordentliche Imaginationskraft stehend. In einen sich rundförmig auffächernden, von dorischen Säulen getragenen und kassetierten Arkadenbögen getragenen Raum, eröffnet sich der Blick. Skulpturale Figuren und Figurenfriese, florale Girlanden und Sphingen wechseln sich mit den in Blau gefassten dorischen Säulen mit symbolgeladenen Zeichnungsbändern eindrucksvoll ab. Hungermüller entführt in eine Welt voller Phantasie und überbordenden Reichtums, eine Formenvielfalt in meisterlicher Ausgestaltung. - Vereinzelte leichte Knickspuren in Rändern, v.a. oben und stellenweise leichte Braunflecken, unten links und mittig je kleiner Einriss, bedingt durch Montierung, unten mittig kleiner Randeinriss, verso leicht gelöst, insgesamt gut. Die Farben frisch.

Varia and Miscellaneous – Watercolour and ink in black on strong wove paper. Signed and dated. Spot-mounted to underlying mat. - Joseph Hungermüller, a Bavarian theatre painter, designs an imposing theatre backdrop, richly adorned with architectural elements and renowned for his extraordinary imagination. The view opens out onto a circular, fanning space supported by Doric columns and coffered arcade arches. Sculptural figures and friezes, floral garlands and sphinxes alternate impressively with the blue-framed Doric columns adorned with symbol-laden scrollwork. Hungermüller transports us into a world of fantasy and exuberant opulence, a masterful display of formal diversity. - Isolated slight crease marks in margins, esp. at tio and isolated slight brown stains, lower left and middle with small tear, due to mounting, lower middle with small marginal tear, verso slightly loose, all in all good. Colours fresh.
