Antiphonarium Romanum. De Tempore, Et Sanctis Ad Ritum Breuiarij (...) Mit großem gestochener Titelvignette von G. Piccini und einer Vignette im Holzschnitt. Venedig, Francesco Baba, 1652. 561 (1, Reg.), 1 Bl. (Druckverm.), 8 S. Gr.-2°. Schweinsldr. d. dt. Spätrenaissance auf 5 Bünden über Holzdecken mit reicher Blindprägung, diese mittels mehrfachen Streicheisenlinien gegliedert u.a. in 4 mittels Rollenstempel ausgefüllte Rahmen mit Ranken-, Blatt- und Blütenwerk, 7 (v. 8) als Eckfleurons aufgenagelten Messingbeschlägen, 2 intakten Messingschließen, hs. Tit. auf Vorderdeckel und umseitigen Rotschnitt (Rücken, Kapitalbänder und Beschläge etw. spät. erneuert bzw. hinzugefügt, beschabt und fleckig).

Varia (mit diversen Schlagworten) – Wuchtiges, großformatiges Messgesangsbuch im prächtigen Einband, sowohl im Handel, als auch in institutionellen Beständen sehr selten. - WorldCat/OCLC weist weltweit lediglich einen Eintrag aus (UB Eichstätt-Ingolstadt), für uns auf Auktionen nicht nachweisbar. - Titelblatt und Quadratnotation durchgehend in Rot und Schwarz gedruckt, zusätzlich mit 16 ledernen Blattweisern. - Provenienz: Pfarrkirche St. Peter eines nicht veortbaren Klosters, mit dem datierten Besitzereintrag "Parochialis Ecclesia S. Petri Monachij Anno 1655" auf dem Kopfsteg des Titelblatts (teils beschnitten) und auf letztem Bl. verso (S. 8). Dortselbst und auf dem ersten hinteren fliegenden Vorsatz recto mehrere hs. Anmerkungen als Auswahl von Gesängen zu bestimmten kirchlichen Festen. - Mehrere Blätter meist in den Rändern ergänzt, teils mit Pergamentstreifen. Buchblock im Vordergelenk gebrochen, mitunter leicht braunfleckig, durchgehend in den Rändern ets. finger- und schmutzfleckig, vereinzelt mit geringen Stockflecken. Mehrere Fehlpaginierungen. Insgesamt repräsentatives, sammelwürdiges Antiphonar.

Varia and Miscellaneous – A massive, large-format hymnal in a magnificent binding, very rare in the trade and in institutional collections alike. - WorldCat/OCLC lists only one entry worldwide (University Library Eichstätt-Ingolstadt), we could not find any auction result at all. - Title page and square notation printed throughout in red and black, additionally with 16 leather leaf markers. - Provenance: Parish Church of St. Peter of an unidentified monastery, with the dated ownership inscription "Parochialis Ecclesia S. Petri Monachij Anno 1655" on the upper margin of the title page (partially trimmed) and on the verso of the last leaf (p. 8). There, and on the recto of the first rear fly-leaf, are several handwritten notes as a selection of hymns for specific parts of the services. - Several leaves, mostly in the margins, have been backed, some with strips of parchment. Book-block broken at the front hinge, occasionally slightly foxed, with minor finger and dirt stains throughout along the margins, and a few little foxing spots. Several pagination errors. Overall, a representative, collectible antiphonary.
