Geographie und Reisen – Sabin 38420. - Henze III, 101. - Mit Exlibris von Stresser-Péan. - Werk des französischen Nturforschers und Botanikers Jacques Julien Houtou de Labillardière über die Expedition und Suche nach Jean François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse, einem französischen Marineoffiziers, der 1788 in der Region um Australien und Ozeanien verschwand. Obwohl die Suche nach Lapérouse erfolglos blieb, enthalten die beiden Bände eine Reihe von Beschreibungen anderer Entdeckungen während der Expedition. Darunter sind die erste veröffentlichte Beschreibung des westaustralischen Eukalyptus und die zweite wissenschaftliche Beschreibung einer australischen Spinne. - Die Tafeln zeigen die indigene Bevölkerung der Region sowie botanische und zoologische Darstellungen. - Stockfleckig, Titelblätter stärker. Atlas tls. sporfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.

Geography and Travel – Oceania. - Australia. - With one folded plate and 43 full-page copper engravings. Half leather with gold-stamped title on the spine, text volumes with marbled edges (heavily rubbed and bumped, joints partially broken). - With bookplate by Stresser-Péan. - Work by the French naturalist and botanist Jacques Julien Houtou de Labillardière on the expedition and search for Jean François de Galaup, Comte de Lapérouse, a French naval officer who disappeared in the region in 1788. Although the search for Lapérouse proved unsuccessful, the two volumes contain a series of descriptions of other discoveries made during the expedition. These include the first published description of the Western Australian eucalyptus and the second scientific description of an Australian spider. - The plates depict the indigenous population of the region as well as botanical and zoological illustrations. - Some foxing, more pronounced on title pages. Atlas sheets with some mold spots. Overall in good condition.
