Blindprägung auf Decken, Rücken, Steh- und Innenkanten, goldgepr. RTit. u. ornament. Bandnr. auf Ldr.-Schildchen, Vorsätzen aus farbigem Kammmarmorpapier, farbig marmoriertem Schnitt und Lesezeichenbändern (mit minimalen Bezugsfehlstellen, beschabt und stw. etw. fleckig, Farbe im Schnitt teils gering verblasst).

Erstausg.) - Tle. 1 u. 2 von Pückler-Muskaus tagebuchartigen Briefen an seine Frau berichten aus England, Wales, Irland und Frankreich, Tle. 3. u. 4. behandeln Deutschland, Holland und noch einmal England. - Die Erstausgabe war zwischen 1830 und 1832 erschienen. In der Übersetzung der bedeutenden englischen Autorin und Kulturvermittlerin Sarah Austin. - Provenienz: James Abbott (geb. Alexander, 1806-58), mit dessen lithograph. Ex Libris, worauf das Wappen derer von Abbott auf allen vier Vorderspiegeln. - Stellenweise gering stockfleckig, etwas gebräunt, sonst sehr gut erhaltener, edel gebundener Exemplarsatz.
Geography and Travel – First English edition of one of the most charming works of German epistolary literature, bound in a superb contemporary calf binding with rich ornamental gold tooling. With 1 lithographed portrait of the author by J. Hullmandel after W. Taylor as frontispiece of vol. 3 - For references see above. - Parts 1 and 2 of Pückler-Muskau's diary-like letters to his wife report from England, Wales, Ireland and France, parts 3 and 4 deal with Germany, Holland and England again. - Translated from the first edition (1830-32) by the eminent English author and cultural mediator Sarah Austin. - Provenance: James Abbott (born Alexander, 1806-58), with his lithographed bookplate, on which the Abbott coat of arms appears, on all four front endpapers. - Slightly foxed in places, slightly browned, otherwise very well preserved, elegantly bound set.
