Voyage de la Commission scientific du Nord, en Scandinavie, en Laponie, au Spitsberg et aux Feröe pendant les années 1838, 1839 et 1840, sur la corvette La Recherche ... 6 (von 10) Textbände in 18 Teilen und 309 (von 448) Tafeln. Mit 215 oft getönten, teils aufgewalzten lithographischen sowie 94 gestochenen Tafeln, darunter viele kolorierte sowie 25 Aquatinta-Radierungen, deren einige retuschiert. Paris, Bertrand und London, Ackermann, o.J. (1842ff.). Gr.-8° bzw. Gr.-Folio. OPbde. mit Deckel- u. RTit. bzw. HLdr. d. Zt. mit ornament. Rgoldtit., marmor. Deckenbezug und gesprenk. Schnitt (die Rücken der Atlasbände teils mit Einrissen, an den Kapitale etwas bestoßen und an zwei Gelenken geplatzt, stellenweise beschabt. Die Einbände der Textteile teils lichtrandig, stellenweise leicht fleckig, bestoßen und berieben).

Serving as director of the Scientific Commission for the North, he conducted extensive explorations in Lapland and on Spitsbergen and the Faeroes. With the latter journey (1838-1840) Gaimard's frenetic, albeit highly productive, wandering apparently came to an end .. He was assidious and successful in seeing to completion the official reports of every expedition in which he participated." Crustacées, 33 (v. 40) des nur unvollständig erschienenen Atlasbandes Zoologie enthalten. - Beigabe: 4 Teilbände im Opd. als Dubletten. - Textbände unbeschnitten, leicht gebräunt und gelegentlich leicht fleckig. Tafeln vereinzelt mit kleinen Randläsuren, rund 50 davon insgesamt stark gebräunt und stockfleckig, einige Seidenhemdchen lose, mit kleinen Einrissen und Fehlstellen sowie lichtrandig. - Insgesamt ein selten so umfänglich angebotener Bestand des bedeutenden und ausladend illustrierten Werks.

Geography and Travel – Extensive partial set out of the monumental, unfinished report on Gaimard's last expedition to Scandinavia and the Arctic. With 215 often tinted, partly rolled on lithographic and 95 engraved plates, of which numerous coloured as well as 25 aquatint etchings, of which some with retouche. - For references see above. - With a treatise filling an entire volume on, among other things, the aurora borealis, the phenomenon impressively illustrated on 10 plates. The plates feature landscapes and views, as well as plans, charts, maps, diagrams, portraits, everyday situations as well as buildings from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Arctic regions (including Spitsbergen), as well as Russia and Central Europe, and additionally costume depictions and zoological motifs (birds, fish, crustaceans, etc.) - The following text volumes are available: Meteorology, vols. 1 and 2 (of 3) in 2 parts each. - Terrestrial Magnetism, vols. 1-3 in 5 parts (vols. 1 and 2 in 2 parts each). - Aurores boréales, 2 parts. - Géologie, Minéralogie et Métallurgie, part 1 (of 2). - Géologie, Minéralogie, Métallurgie et Chimie, part 1 (of 2). - Physical Geography, Botanical Geography, Botany and Physiology, vol. 1 in 2 parts and vol. 2, part 1 (of 2). - Relation du voyage, 2 vols. Enclosed: Four partial volumes in the original bindings as duplicates. - According to Nissen the following text volumes are missing: "Histoire de la Scandinavie," "Littérature Scandinave," as well as 139 (of 448) plates from the atlas volumes. The plates Oiseaux, 5 (of 6), Poissons, 16 (of 20). - Crustacées, 33 (of 40) from the incomplete atlas volume Zoologie are included. - Text volumes untrimmed, slightly time-stained and occasionally soiled. Plates occasionally with small tears at margins, around 50 of them heavily browned and foxed, some tissue papers loose, with small tears and missing pieces as well as light edges. - Overall a well preserved set of this significant and lavishly illustrated work, as comprehensive as here hard to find.
