Nilbilder. Vier und zwanzig Facsimiles nach Aquarellen. Naturaufnahmen während zweier Orientreisen 1862 und 1865. Erläuternde Texte von A.E. Brehm u. J. Dümichen. Mit 24 chromolithogr. Tafeln u. 1 Karte. Wandsbeck, Seitz, 1881. Titel in Rot u. Schwarz, 81 S. Folio. Lwd. mit reicher ornamentaler Prägung auf Rücken und Deckel sowie goldgepr. RTitel und DTitel und Goldschnitt (berieben und bestoßen).

Geographie und Reisen – Kainbacher I, 145. - Vgl. Ibrahim-Hilmy II, 324. - "Pantographie-Ausgabe" mit prachtvollen Tafeln (zu diesem von Seitz entwickelten Verfahren vgl. Ries, S. 290, Anm. 1). - Karl Werner reiste bis Nubien. Nach seinen unterwegs gemalten Aquarellen enstand die Folge der farbfrischen Chromolithographien mit schönen Ansichten von Kairo bis Philae. Gezeigt werden u.a.: Kairo von der Nordseite, Chalifengräber, Pyramiden von Giseh, Nilufer, Barbierladen, Tempel etc. - Minimal stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Geography and Travel – Africa - Egypt - With 24 chromolithographic plates and 1 map. Canvas with rich ornamental embossing on the spine and covers, as well as gold-stamped title and half-title pages and gilt edges (worn and bumped). - "Pantography edition" with magnificent plates (for this process developed by Seitz, see Ries, p. 290, note 1). - Karl Werner traveled as far as Nubia. Based on the watercolors he painted along the way, he created a series of vividly colored chromolithographs featuring beautiful views from Cairo to Philae. Depicted are, among other things: Cairo from the north side, the Caliphs' tombs, the Pyramids of Giza, the banks of the Nile, a barber shop, temples, etc. - Minimal foxing. Overall in very good condition.

A pickup of this work is possible in our premises at Potsdamer Str. 16, 14163 Berlin by appointment. If you wish a shipment of the work, please contact us for a consultation and shipping calculation. Framed tickets are shipped exclusively by a shipping company due to the risk of breakage. Postal shipping is only carried out at the express request and risk of the buyer.
