Manuskripte und Urkunden – Der o.g. Bayerische Verein war eine im Oktober 1866 gegründete Vorläuferorganisation des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes. Vorliegendes Manuskript nimmt Bezug auf die Bewährung des Vereins und die logistischen und organisatorischen Abläufe im Deutsch Französischen Krieg 1870/71, insbesondere auf die Unterstützung durch den Fürsten Max von Thurn und Taxis (d.i. der bayerische Major und Familienhistoriker Maximilian Friedrich von Thurn und Taxis (1831-1890)). - Max von Thurn und Taxis "welcher nicht nur als stellvertrender Vorsitzender des Centralcomites des Vereins an der dessen Grundlage noch jetzt bildenden Organisation den lebhaftesten und durchgreifendsten Antheil nahm, sondern auch unter der Zahl jener höchsten ... Wohlthäter verzeichnet ist, welche den Grundstock des Vereinsvermögens damals bilden halfen." - Der Fürst übernahm schon am 26. Juli 1870 die Funktion des Hauptdelegierten des Vereins bei der Generaletappen-Inspektion. Er reiste mit dem Subdelegierten Grafen von Rechberg über Mannheim und Speyer und nach einem Treffen mit dem Hauptetappendelegierten der 3. Armee Graf Görtz, in die "sehr bedrängte Pfalz". Nach der Einnahme von Weissenberg reiste er am 5. August nach Bergzabern und sorgte dort für die Unterbringung der Verwundeten. - Er bildete eine mobile Kolonne, welche u.a. zur Ankunft in Corbeil am 23. September und auf dem Marsch nach Sedan und in Buzancy bestand. In Sommauthe hat er ein Spital für Verwundete etabliert. Am 24. September wurde er Lazarettdelegierter für die Spitäler Lycée und der Kaserne Rue Satory, am 20. Oktober Hauptdelegierter für Versailles. Für seine Dienste bekam er nach seiner im November angetreten Rückkehr das Eiserne und das Komtur-Kreuz des bayerischen Militärs verliehen. Bis Oktober 1873 und seiner Übersiedlung nach Neuburg a/D gehörte Fürst Taxis wieder als stellvertretender Vorsitzender mit "regem Interesse" und "lebhafter Teilnahme" dem Zentralkomitee des Vereins an. - Horizontaler Mittelfalz, stellenw. minimal angeschmutzt oder fleckig, insg. wohlerhalten.

Manuscripts – Bavaria - Thurn and Taxis. German manuscript of the "Bavarian Association for the Care and Support of Wounded and Sick Soldiers in the Field" (transl.) concerning the commemoration of the services of Max, Prince of Thurn and Taxis. - The aforementioned Bavarian Association was a precursor organization of the German Red Cross, founded in October 1866. This manuscript refers to the association's performance and the logistical and organizational processes during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, particularly the support provided by Prince Max von Thurn und Taxis (i.e., the Bavarian Major and family historian Maximilian Friedrich von Thurn und Taxis (1831-1890)). - Max von Thurn und Taxis "who not only played the most active and decisive part in the organization that still forms its foundation as deputy chairman of the association's central committee, but is also listed among those highest benefactors who helped to establish the association's assets at that time." (transl.). - The Prince assumed the role of the association's chief delegate to the General Stages Inspection as early as July 26, 1870. He traveled with the sub-delegate, Count von Rechberg, via Mannheim and Speyer, and after a meeting with the chief stage delegate of the 3rd Army, Count Görtz, to the "very beleaguered Palatinate." After the capture of Weissenberg, he traveled to Bergzabern on August 5 and arranged for the accommodation of the wounded there. - He formed a mobile column, which, among other things, was present for the arrival in Corbeil on September 23 and during the march to Sedan and in Buzancy. In Sommauthe, he established a hospital for the wounded. On September 24, he became the hospital delegate for the Lycée hospital and the Rue Satory barracks, and on October 20, the chief delegate for Versailles. For his services, he was awarded the Iron Cross and the Commander's Cross of the Bavarian military upon his return in November. Until October 1873 and his move to Neuburg an der Donau, Prince Taxis again served as vice-chairman of the association's central committee with "keen interest" and "lively participation." - Horizontal center fold, minimally soiled or stained in places, overall well preserved.
