Naturwissenschaften – Gouache mit der Darstellung des Affenhauses im Berliner Zoologischen Garten, der 1844 als erster moderner Tiergarten Deutschlands eröffnet wurde. Der polygonale, verglaste Pavillon gehört zu den frühen Achauarchitekturen, in denen exotische Tiere dem bürgerlichen Publikum präsentiert wurden und verweist auf den Übergang höfischer Menagerien zu wissenschaftlichen und öffentlich organisierten zoologischen Gärten.

Natural Sciences – Gouache on vellum. Mounted on a backing board. Partially stained and with slight scuffing, edges slightly bumped. Overall in very good condition. - A gouache depicting the monkey house at Berlin Zoo, which opened in 1844 as Germany's first modern zoo. The polygonal, glass-fronted pavilion is one of the earliest examples of zoo architecture in which exotic animals were presented to the general public, and it marks the transition from court menageries to scientific and publicly organised zoos.
