"Das umfangreichste und wissenschaftlich bedeutsamste Unternehmen ornithologischer Ikonographie, das im 18. Jahrhundert in Angriff genommen worden ist" (Nissen). - Bd. IV: Taf. VI als IV nummeriert. Bd. VIII stellenweise stärker wurmgängig, teils mit Buchstabenverlust, teils Tafeln etwas betroffen. Zwei weitere Bände gering wurmstichig (meist im weißen Rand). Titel von Bd. XVII fleckig. Stellenweise leicht gebräunt.

With altogether 262 copper plates. - Nissen, IVB, 158. - Stillwell, 63 ("This edition was certainly the most ambitious and comprehensive bird book which had appeared at the time of its publication, and ranks still as one of the most important of all bird books from the collector's point of view") - Full mottled calf with gilt title and gilt tooling to the spine (bumped and partly heavily cheafed, some vols. somewaht damaged and with missing parts in the covering material, partly slightly wormed, a few joints cracking). - Vol. IV: plate VI erroneously as IV numbered. Vol. VIII partly quite strongly wormed, partly with loss of letters, partly plates somewhat concerned. Two further vols. slightly wormed (most in the white margin). Title of vol. XVII soiled. In some places slightly browned.
