Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne

As early as the 1920s, in the context of avant-garde groups such as "Der Sturm" and the Novembergruppe, Maatsch developed his characteristic visual language: strictly organised surfaces, clear lines and a reduced colour palette are at the heart of his artistic expression. The present sheet, a composition in yellow, is also characterised by a high degree of conceptual clarity and concentrates entirely on the interactions between line, form and space.
