Lot 453 Dorothy Iannone. From diamonds to hearts - …

From diamonds to hearts - inbetween old and new. 1994. Faserstift auf leichtem Velinkarton. 20 x 42,2 cm.

American Post War – Fibre pen on light wove card. Signed and dated. - Only the corners minimally and barely noticeable bumped. Overall in very well preserved condition. - Dorothy Iannone was an uncompromising voice for artistic and sexual freedom, and her courageous, autobiographical work makes her one of the pioneers of emancipation in the 20th century. Stylistically, she shifted somewhere between Fluxus, Pop Art, and Nouveau Réalisme, but developed her own unique visual language that was as multifaceted as her artistic repertoire. With her works, compositions full of openly displayed lust, vulnerability, and spiritual ecstasy, Iannone often encountered both opposition and censorship throughout her career. In recent years, however, Iannone has gained increasing international recognition, not least because of the uncompromising authenticity of her artistic expression. Major exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou, the Louisiana Museum, and the Berlinische Galerie, among others, now pay tribute to her extraordinary oeuvre.
