Punktuell auf Unterlage montiert und unter Glas gerahmt. - Minimal angestaubt, untere rechte Ecke minimal und kaum sichtbar bestoßen, vereinzelte Diamantenstaubkörnchen punktuell einzeln haftend, insgesamt sehr gut und ausgesprochen schön. Prachtvoller, farbsatter und kontrastreicher Druck mit schmalem Rand, rechts mit dem Schöpfrand.

Enge Freundschaften verbanden ihn zu seinem weiten persönlichen Umfeld, darunter Künstlerkollegen und Hollywoodstars. Während er bei zahlreichen seiner Porträts auf Pressefotos als Bildquelle zurückgreift, wird im Fall von Mildred Scheel ein Foto als Vorlage eigens aufgenommen. Mildred Scheel, die zweite Ehefrau des eh. dt. Bundespräsidenten Walter Scheel, war Ärztin, engagierte sich philanthropisch und saß der Deutschen Krebshilfestiftung vor. Um Spenden für diese zu generieren, entsteht unser Blatt. Mit leuchtenden Farben, klaren Konturen und geometrischen zackigen Formen hält Warhol es in seiner unverwechselbaren Formensprache der Pop Art fest, zugleich hebt er die souveräne und einflussreiche Präsenz Scheels hervor. Gehöht mit Diamantenstaub wird das Porträt veredelt, typisch für des Künstlers Darstellungen von Prominenz. Im Werk vereint sich Warhols Fähigkeit, die Porträtkunst in einer visuell fesselnden Aussagekraft festzuhalten.

Köln. - Andy Warhol is regarded as a chronicler of his time having painted portraits of countless personalities from politics, science, art, music and culture. He had close friendships to fellow artists and Hollywood stars. While he used press photos as the source for many of his portraits, in the case of Mildred Scheel, a photo was taken specifically. Mildred Scheel, the second wife of former German President Walter Scheel, was a doctor, philanthropist and chair of the German Cancer Aid Foundation. Our print was created to generate donations for it. With bright colours, clear contours and jagged geometric shapes, Warhol captures it in his unmistakable Pop Art style, while at the same time emphasising Scheel's confident and influential presence. The portrait is embellished with diamond dust, typical of the artist's depictions of celebrities. The work combines Warhol's ability to capture the art of portraiture in a visually appealing way.
