Zeitgenössische Kunst – Eines von 18 Exemplaren. - Gedruckt und herausgegeben von LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies, Columbia University, New York 2015. - In der vorliegenden Farbradierung von Kiki Smith verbindet die Künstlerin klassische Tiefdrucktechnik mit collagierten Elementen aus reflektierendem Hologrammpapier, die tropfenförmig über das Blatt verteilt sind. In ihrer Form erinnern sie an Regentropfen als auch an Tränen und stehen somit als Symbole für emotionale Prozesse als auch Naturphänomene. Der scheinbar positiv konnotierte Titel eröffnet in Kombination mit den tränenartigen Formen eine bewusste und spannungsreiche Ambivalenz zwischen Euphorie und Traurigkeit, Hoffnung und Melancholie, Wachstum und Zerstörung. Wie oft in Smiths Werk wird das Körperliche - hier in Form der Träne - nicht als isoliertes Symbol gelesen, sondern als Verbindungsglied zwischen Innenwelt, Natur und Kosmos. Das holografische Material, das das Licht bricht und changiert, verstärkt diese Lesart: Jede Bewegung der Betrachtenden verändert das Bild und erzeugt eine visuelle Metapher für emotionale und sinnliche Vielschichtigkeit.

Splendid print with engaging effect of the collaged mirror elements, the colour effect fresh and multi-faceted. - One of 18 copies. - Printed and published by LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies, Columbia University, New York 2015 - In this colour etching by Kiki Smith, the artist combines classical intaglio technique with collaged elements of reflective, teardrop or tear-like forms scattered across the sheet. Their shape is reminiscent of tears or raindrops, which symbolise emotional processes as well as natural phenomena. In combination with the tear-like forms, the seemingly positive connotation of the title opens up a deliberate and tense ambivalence between euphoria and sadness, hope and melancholy, growth and destruction. As is often the case in Smith's work, the physical - here in the form of the tear - is not read as an isolated symbol, but as a link between the inner world, nature and the cosmos. The holographic material, which refracts and changes the light, reinforces this interpretation: every movement of the viewer changes the image and creates a visual metaphor for emotional and sensual complexity.
