Expressionismus

Classical Modernism – 3 works. Pencil on parchment paper. Signed and dated '16.IV.37'. Spot-mounted under mat. Framed under glass. - Slight smudging due to technique, minimal yellowing due to paper. Overall in well preserved condition. - Provenance: Private collection, Munich. - Female nude standing, depicted from the left, front and right. - Felixmüller's studies provide insight into his drawing process and document his meticulous examination of the female nude figure. The three lightly executed pencil drawings on parchment paper depict a reduced representation focused on the essentials, which seems to capture both the anatomical accuracy and the essence of the figures. In the context of the 1930s, a period of personal and artistic restriction under the Nazi regime, Felixmüller's studies reflect his restrained approach to the human figure, without expressive exaggeration, but with concentrated observation and formal clarity. The sketches thus serve both a workshop and a reflective function, documenting the development process of his figurative visual language.
